Mike Gould

Formerly a Head of English in two schools – first Luton, and then in Bexhill, I left teaching to go into publishing in the mid ‘90s. Since 2003 I have worked as a freelance educational and publishing consultant with organisations as diverse as the BBC, the Department for Education, Harper Collins, Pearson, and the National Literacy Trust. During that time I have written or edited over 150 books for children, teenagers, parents and teachers, including short fiction and nonfiction (one of which was a soap opera for reluctant readers set in Brighton). For a time I was a Visiting Lecturer in English and Education at the University of Brighton where I taught a variety of courses including Creative Writing, Drama and New Technologies. A number of my poems have been published in school textbooks and anthologies.

Last year my short story ‘Norman’s Bay’ was a winner in the CHINDI (Chichester Independent Authors Society) Short Story competition. My most recent educational book is a student guide to ‘A Christmas Carol’, published by Harper Collins (2017).

I live in Bexhill with Jane and dog, Freddie with our three children also on a long lead which occasionally drags them home from their interesting lives elsewhere.
