I am married with two adult offspring. My daughter is a writer and writes fantasy for US magazines. I am a member of the local Trefoil Guild (Guiding for Adults) and attend the Church-in-the-Wood. I teach Sunday school, and my 20 years as a Brown Owl and guide leader have been very useful. I have had a bad back, so my hobbies are rather sedentary – knitting, crochet, cross stitch and writing, of course.
History with Hastings Writers’ Group
I joined for the second time in 2015, but I was also a member from 2003 to 2005. In my first year I won the Writer of the Year Award and in my third year, I won the Catherine Cookson Cup. I was also the Publicity Secretary. I left when I hurt my leg and couldn’t get to meetings and then got involved in other things with guiding and my church.
I read widely but like to write science fiction, fantasy and detective stories. I will turn my hand to anything if needed although I don’t like romances, so that is always a challenge.
Publications and Prizes
Issues 3 and 4 of Strandline; Risk assessment summaries; Guiding Magazine and a Guiding Handbook chapter (All Guiding).
I wrote a speech and had to deliver it at The Mermaid Theatre in front of the Duchess of Wessex and guiders. I won a local council competition and had excerpts of my work in their calendar.<< Sarah Corrie Philip Nice >>
